On October 12th, downtown San Jose was host to the much-anticipated 15th Annual Disability Awareness Day. This event, a testament to the city\u2019s commitment to fostering an inclusive community, saw local officials, community organizations, and hundreds of residents come together in a spirit of unity and advocacy.<\/p>

From the captivating art displays reflecting the depth of our community’s talent to a resource fair offering valuable information, there was something for everyone to enjoy. Live music and dance performances added to the festivities, with neighborhood favorite food trucks lining the square.<\/p>

Spotlight on Hope Services<\/strong><\/p>

Hope Services was proud to have a dual role at the event. Not only were we present with a resource booth, providing information and outreach, but our very own\u2014The New Hope Band\u2014also had the privilege of performing live on stage.<\/p>

Acknowledging Key Contributors<\/strong><\/p>

This day would not have been possible without the significant contributions of the San Andreas Regional Center, Vice Mayor Rosemary Kamei, and Councilmember Pam Foley. Their unwavering support culminated in the official proclamation of the day as Disability Awareness Day, underscoring the importance of recognizing and celebrating our diverse community.<\/p>

The Tradition Continues<\/strong><\/p>

Since its inception in 2010 by the Council & Mayor\u2019s Office, Disability Awareness Day has been a beacon of the City of San Jose’s commitment. Occurring annually in the first week of October, this event’s primary focus is on promoting services and sharing information that empowers people with disabilities to live independent lives.<\/p>

The success of the 15th Annual Disability Awareness Day is a testament to San Jose’s dedication to fostering an inclusive community, where everyone can thrive.<\/p>
