When Steve saw an opening at FactorX<\/strong>, a company that recycles e-waste and has partnered with Google, Tesla, NASA, and more, he knew Michael was the right person for the job. \u201cI\u2019ve learned a lot here,\u201d Michael says. His responsibilities include installing and disassembling electronics and equipment, often for businesses that are closing. It\u2019s a physically demanding work, but Michael was up for the challenge\u2014even traveling in the truck to job sites across the region.<\/p>\n![\"\"](\"https:\/\/www.hopeservices.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_9895-scaled.jpg\")

A typical day for Michael starts with a long bus ride from Morgan Hill to Gilroy. He always arrives early. He powers up the computer, checks for new listings and government deals, and helps gather items from the warehouse tent for pickup. He goes above and beyond every day.<\/p>\n
His manager, Anthony, recalls that Michael was very quiet when he first started. Within a month, he saw tremendous growth. \u201cMichael is one of the best employees we\u2019ve ever had,\u201d he says. Michael has become a standout in customer service. He\u2019s gained the confidence to connect with customers, learning about who they are beyond just what they need. He builds relationships rooted in genuine curiosity and care.<\/p>\n
In one instance, Anthony couldn\u2019t make a scheduled job and trusted Michael to handle it solo. He did. He showed up, trusted his instincts, used the right tools, and got it done.<\/p>\n
One of the coolest projects Michael has worked on? Disassembling a Tesla robot.<\/p>\n
This role has helped Michael maintain a healthy routine while learning valuable technical and interpersonal skills. He currently lives with his parents but is saving to live independently. Years ago, he attended West Valley College with dreams of studying fashion. That dream hasn\u2019t faded. Michael hopes to someday blend his creative interests with the practical skills he\u2019s gained\u2014and live a life full of purpose and possibility.<\/p>\n
