Desiree Biggs is truly a Jill of many trades, generously using her talent and advocacy to uplift our community.<\/p>\n
In February, the Tim Bow Foundation hosted its annual prom A Night to Shine<\/em>, an event our program participants eagerly look forward to each year. Desiree proudly joined the prom\u2019s \u201cglam squad,\u201d a team of hairstylists, makeup artists, and barbers dedicated to ensuring every attendee felt confident, celebrated, and camera-ready for the big night.<\/p>\n A licensed cosmetologist for 25 years, Desiree brings both skill and heart to her work. She is also a passionate advocate for individuals with disabilities. Her second cousin participated in the Hollister program, and her youngest son has autism. Inspired by these personal connections, Desiree became a Job Coach in Gilroy and Hollister, where she continues to empower individuals to grow, succeed, and thrive in their professional development.<\/p>\n Her dedication to making milestone moments accessible is long-standing. For years, she led a program called Desiree\u2019s PROMise<\/em>, collecting donated prom dresses and providing them to those who might not otherwise have the opportunity to attend prom in style.<\/p>\n Volunteering at A Night to Shine<\/em> was a natural extension of her passion. Each participant was paired with a \u201cbuddy\u201d for the evening, and Desiree was matched with David, a participant from Mountain View. The night was filled with unforgettable bucket-list moments, including their first ride in a G-Wagon. David, along with all attendees, was crowned Prom King and made his way down the red carpet, smiling for paparazzi along the way. They enjoyed Chick-fil-A, cheered during the balloon drop, and celebrated on the dance floor. When it was time to dance, Desiree thoughtfully supported David, who is visually impaired, helping him confidently navigate the room and join his new friends.<\/p>\n Having grown up in Gilroy, Desiree is deeply committed to creating more joyful, inclusive experiences in her local community.
